RADIO TRIBULATION - BROADCASTING POLICY

Most of the offerings on this station are Zero-beat, Deep Ambient and Early Space electronica, although the occasional beaty, jazzy or whimsical numbers do manage to creep in every now and then.

I intend to deliberately keep to a low tranmission bitrate, for two main reasons. Firstly, to reach as many Deep Ambient listeners as possible, even those with dial-up connections, and secondly, to discourage ripping of the music stream. I have great respect for the musicians, producers and small record companies who are mostly responsible for bringing out niche and non-mainstream music in the face of overwhelming competition from the giant entertainment cartels. If, by listening to my transmissions, you are encouraged to go out and buy even one CD, you are making a contribution to their prosperity, and on-going success. By so doing, you are helping to generate a steady stream of new material for me to promote through this station.

I will never include an entire album in the stream without breaking it up across the whole playlist. I try to keep my stream titles informative, so that you can ask for the artists in your local record shops. If you find it difficult sourcing the music, let me know, and I will attempt to put together a page of references to independent record shops who can help. Otherwise, remember that most of these artists are on artist-owned labels, and their web sites often contain the names of their main distributors, so you can also try via the references on the artists page on this site.

I have to pay for my own bandwidth, so my current ougoing stream is limited. Please be patient if you have difficulty tuning in. Although I have a fairly tolerant ISP, I really don't know how long this project will be allowed to continue. If there is anyone out there who is prepared to donate a chunk of bandwidth toward the promotion of the best in Ambient and Zero-beat, please contact me to discuss the possibility of relaying, hosting or sponsorship.
